Tell us a little bit about Our Home of Bliss and yourself?
I’m Kim and I’m a mum of 3 girls, my eldest daughter has Type 1 Diabetes and needed something for myself, a creative outlet so I started Ourhomeofbliss and people seemed to like what I was putting out, I was genuinely shocked and still am, super grateful for the opportunity to share what I love.
Were you an interior stylist first and then decided to go into DIY?
I’ve always had a love and passion for DIY and the interior side of things came into it a bit later, When I look back now my style has changed so much over the years.
What do you love about interior styling?
I love to turn a space into something beautiful, I love how any space can be personalised to the persons needs and I love the originality/uniqueness of that.
What do you love about DIY?
Where do I start, I love that you can give something a new life, I love a challenge. There is nothing better than sitting back looking at a before and after of a project you have done and thinking wow I did that!
What inspires you when creating?
It’s like a mindset for me, I’m forever rearranging or moving things to get the right shot, I’ve just started doing a bit of brand photography and I am loving it!
Tell us a story about your favourite DIY project or renovation?
Oh it would definitely have to be my TV Unit. It is a 2.5m long cabinet and was stained in walnut. It took 19 hours of sanding but it was completely worth it.
I replaced the glass with rattan weave and stained in liming white and it looks absolutely beautiful, definitely super proud of that!
What do you recommend for people wanting to get into interior design?
I think you just go with what you like, embrace your style and run with it.
5 best tips and tricks for styling a home?
These are just my opinion.
Always add Texture and then more Texture.
Keep it practical but have key accents that tie a room together.
You can never have too many cushions 😂
Your home should reflect your personality.
Make sure your rug in your lounge room is big.
Where to next for Our Home of Bliss?
I’ll continue on the path I am, I love sharing my passion with others and my DIYs and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I’m lucky enough to have worked with some amazing small businesses and brands and hope to continue to do that too.
What's been your greatest lesson on this journey so far?
That numbers don’t matter, share what you love.
How did you find using Gilly's Products?
They genuinely are fabulous products, I use them weekly oh my rattan and timber furniture.
What was your favourite product?
I love the Orange Oil, it smells amazing and it works incredibly! It also put an amazing smell throughout my home.
Why do you love Gilly's?
It brought my rattan furniture back to life, it went from looking drab to fab instantly and who doesn’t love an Aussie business!
