Argyle Street is the main artery of the town, where you will find the Mossy Store. It is a refined and upscale design store featuring unique furnishings, domestic products and special edition objects from a diverse range of designers and artisans - some by established Australian and international designers and other pieces by emerging local talents. Taken together, they present a rich and compelling tapestry of beautifully designed handmade and most importantly, useful, domestic products.
We spoke to owners, Simon and Genevieve, about their vision for the Mossy Store.
Mossy Store is the culmination of our vision of a country homewares shop. A move from city to country presented an opportunity for us to use our experience in successful creative careers in a new way.
We give broad consideration to the way our products are made and the impact manufacturing processes may have not just on the planet but also the people making them. Product quality and longevity are paramount. We sell heirlooms, not landfill.
The store's emphasis is on sourcing close to home and we only import when there is no viable locally made alternative and even then it's only from the worlds best designers and makers including a little from fair trade collectives.
Mossy Store is already developing a reputation as a unique destination in the Southern Highlands. We proudly stock the creative output of several makers of hand crafted ceramics, suppliers of Australian cast iron cookware, locally sourced indoor and outdoor furniture including pieces from reclaimed farm timber, tableware from a diversity of materials, a wide array of hand made textiles, men's & women's accessories, leather goods, amazing glassware, jewellery and Australian made artisan broomware.

Mossy Store Workshop Originals focuses on clean, classic, simple designs that will stand the test of time. We create furniture with long-term relevance that will be treasured and passed down to future generations. Our end product is informed by our materials, primarily Australian hardwood. We take care with all our manufacturing processes and our effect on the environment. Our workshop is located in the NSW Southern Tablelands and we source as locally as possible.
The furniture range is small, considered and continues to grow. We focus our efforts on timeless design and take pride in our workmanship.
