Description

Gilly’s Black Wax is a richly pigmented antiquing wax designed to create depth, contrast, and character on timber and painted surfaces. Made from a natural blend of waxes, oils, and carbon black pigment, it delivers a true black finish that enhances grain and highlights detail.

This versatile wax can be applied directly to raw timber for a black-washed, stained effect, or used over existing finishes to create a subtle aged or antique look. It’s especially effective on chalk and mineral paint finishes, where the pigment settles into textures, carvings, and edges to emphasise detail.

Follow up with a coat of Carnauba Polish Clear for added protection and to lock colour in.

Application

 

Surface Application Ensure the surface is clean and dry before application.
How to Apply
  1. Apply sparingly with a clean, lint-free cloth. 
  2. Wipe away any excess. 
  3. Follow up with Carnauba Polish application for added protection and to lock colour in.
Dry Time 20 minutes provided excess is wiped away.
Maintenance Depending on wear. Can be maintained with Carnauba Polish.
Clean Up Warm, soapy water.
