Pure Hemp Oil
Gilly’s Pure Hemp Oil is a 100% natural, plant-based finishing oil designed to nourish, protect, and enhance timber surfaces. Cold-pressed from hemp seeds, it penetrates deeply into the wood to enrich the grain and create a durable, natural finish.
This environmentally friendly oil cures within the timber fibres, forming a hard, water-resistant surface without the need for synthetic coatings or additives. Free from VOCs, petrochemicals, and solvents, it’s a safe and natural alternative for both home and workshop use.
When first applied, the oil gives timber a rich, “wet look” appearance, enhancing colour and grain before gradually lightening as it cures. The result is a smooth, low-sheen finish that highlights the natural character of the wood.
Use for
- Timber furniture and cabinetry
- Chopping boards and kitchen utensils
- Wooden toys and household items
- Chalk paint sealing and finishing
- Interior timber surfaces and woodwork
Application
|
Surface Preparation |
Before you begin, make sure your surface is clean and dust free. If you’re applying hemp oil over a piece painted with chalk paint, ensure you give the paint about 12 hours to dry before you apply the oil. |
|
How to Apply to Raw Timber |
Hemp oil is a deep green colour but as a natural oil, will vary somewhat between batches. When first applied, it will deepen the colour of your finish (as if it were wet) but it will slowly lighten over time as the oil soaks in and cures.
|
|
Dry Time |
12 hours but allow up to 30 days for full curing. Gentle use is fine up until that point. |
|
Maintenance |
For general maintenance and wear, simply re-apply as the surface becomes faded or dry. Normally only required every 2 years. |
|
Clean Up |
Warm, soapy water or a solvent such as Gilly’s Citrus Thin. |
